Our Next Event: Opet Garden Party at Rolleston on Dove - Sunday 6 June 2004
Based here in the East Midlands of England:

The Society for the
Study of Ancient Egypt

was officially founded in November 1992, with the aims of promoting and extending interest in the civilizations of  Ancient Egypt and the science of Egyptology.

The Scribe is the SSAE's excellent newsletter; this is normally produced four times a year and is packed with news and views on Egyptology and Egypt; helping to keep our members in touch with each other.

We hold seasons of regular Lectures (at Chesterfield, Derby and Nottingham) given by distinguished Egyptologists, organise occasional Day Schools on related topics, and Visits to places with Egyptian connections both here in the United Kingdom and abroad.

Tours
to Egypt itself are regular events.

Although we are based in the very centre of England, we have members in all parts of the UK and further afield and anyone interested in Egyptology or Ancient Egypt  is welcome to join us.

Probably uniquely among the UK's Regional Societies; we have an extensive Members' Library of Egypt- related books, magazines and videos which are available for members to borrow.
